SERIALREADER

Privacy Policy

SerialReader is a personal library and reading-series tracker. This policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.

Information stored on your device

Your library, reading statuses, notes, preferences, loan records, hidden recommendations, and appearance settings are stored locally on your device. SerialReader does not currently require an account and does not send this personal library information to the developer.

Camera and photos

Camera access is used only when you choose to scan an ISBN barcode, a book cover, or a shelf. Images selected for book identification are processed for that requested feature. SerialReader does not use the camera in the background.

Book-information services

The app sends book titles, author names, ISBNs, or recognized cover text to public book-information services such as Google Books and Open Library to find metadata, covers, series information, and recommendations. Those services may receive standard network information such as your IP address under their own privacy policies.

Product analytics

SerialReader uses Google Firebase Analytics to measure whether major features work and where readers encounter difficulty. Events may include opening the scanner, whether a scan succeeded, whether a search returned results, opening or adding a book, starting or updating reading progress, saving a metadata correction, and opening a retailer link. These events use categorical details such as the feature source, result-count range, or correction type. SerialReader deliberately does not send book titles, author names, ISBN values, search text, notes, or account identifiers in analytics events. Google may process device and app activity information under its own privacy terms.

Backups and sharing

Backups are created only when you request them. You decide where to save or share the resulting file. SerialReader does not receive a copy.

Purchasing links

SerialReader may provide links to third-party retailers. Retailers handle purchases under their own terms and privacy policies. Some links may be affiliate links, which may earn the developer a commission without changing your purchase price.

Children

SerialReader is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

Local records remain until you remove them, reset the library, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Settings includes a Reset Library option that deletes library records from the device.

Security and changes

Network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections when supported by the outside service. This policy may be updated as SerialReader gains new features.
